Brad Draper

CEO/Managing Director

Brad, a proud Wiradjuri Man, and recipient of the 2018 NSW Premiers Award for his work with Kenjarhy Solar, heads Aboriginal Sustainable Homes in its quest to build culturally sensitive housing for our indigenous communities.

Brad has more than 25 years’ experience in the Australian Employment and Mining industries, specialising in Project Management.

During his career he has held positions within a range of ASX Listed Companies in supervisory and management roles, encompassing a wide range of projects within the Australian Mining/CSG/Construction Industries and held the position of Chairman at the Orange Aboriginal Medical Centre from 2015-2020.

Brad has extensive Project Management experience of critically high-volume projects. Through his in depth and highly developed skills in planning, scheduling, rostering, and controlling of these projects, has been able to deliver all outcomes on time and within the nominated budget requirements. 

Brad is a leader first and foremost with a history of developing highly effective teams through managing his projects against ISO standards.  Brad’s skills also extend to financial management / contract administration/ safety auditing and safety management.


Brads knowledge and expertise offers invaluable insights as we continue to grow our footprint throughout NSW, which includes the ongoing development and implementation of our unique and life changing training program for indigenous people within the construction industry. 


Chris Doolan

Project Development Director

Chris has over 25 years’ entrepreneurial experience in Finance, Property Development, Construction and Business start-ups in Australia. As founder of Altitude Group of Companies in 2004, Chris led the group to a collective turnover of $40m p.a. within the first three years and went on to develop and build $500m of real estate over the ensuing 10 years.

Chris has considerable knowledge in business and the Australian property industry, gained via specialisation in project and development management in residential subdivisions, house and land packages, Townhouse’s and Apartments, Day-Care Centres, Urban Shopping Centres, Industrial Mining Structures including Design, Construct and Facility Management of Mining Villages to house up to 1500 FIFO workers.

 

Chris’s current role as Project and Development Director for Aboriginal Sustainable Homes was born from a long held passion toward creating a company which offered assistance to the Indigenous community, not only by way of providing sustainable housing which reflected and met the cultural needs of Australia’s First Nation residents, but, would also provide a platform for members of the indigenous community where the housing was built to be given the training and skills to assist in the build and offer opportunities to gain recognised qualifications and greater job opportunities. 


Rob York

Construction Manager

Rob, a second-generation builder has over 30 years’ experience, specialising in all facets of the construction industry including Construction Management and has built a very successful 3rd generation building company. (York Build).   Throughout his career, Rob has worked with major construction companies such as Condev and Hutchinson Builders and is highly experienced using all construction mediums, including insulated panel systems.   

Rob has completed projects of high and low rise commercial and residential buildings, banks, hospitals, nursing homes, and a wide array of projects from Indigenous housing and homes of up to $7.5m in value. He has also completed projects for Horizon Rail, building a 350 person FIFO village in Blackwater and an accommodation facility for teachers working in the remote location of Mornington Island. 

Rob prides himself in his ability to build meaningful relationships and close working connections with stakeholders, project managers, site foreman, trades, and suppliers.  His experience within the construction industry enables him to deliver projects within the specified timeline and budgets.

Chris started his career as a leading hand in the electrical industry in Tasmania running jobs of $1m+ prior to obtaining his qualifications in Project Management.   As both Account Manager and Project manager, Chris oversaw projects for Hobart City Council, Parks and Wildlife (Tasmania), Hobart International Airport to name a few for Vantage & Federal Groups.  In 2019 Chris furthered his skill set and qualifications gaining his Electrical Contractors License and commenced his own business.

 

Chris first joined ASH in 2020 as an electrical contractor under his own business Licence and soon became an integral part of the ASH team in the Moree and Surrounds area, utilising his project management skills to  manage our projects, mentor our younger team members, conduct site inspections, undertaking scoping requirements  and attend to all electrical facets on our projects.


Corey Doolan

Project Manager

Corey has been working in the construction industry for the past 9 years and is currently undertaking studies toward a formal qualification in Project Management.


Corey commenced his baptism into the industry as a carpenter for Altitude Design and Construct and went on to further his career working with some major players in the mining industry including Resolute Mining on the Syama Gold Mine, Rio Tinto at QAL, BSL, and Yarwun mines and time on time on the Papua New Guinea Moro Oil Refinery in search of Oil.


Corey is currently charged with overseeing a Refurbishment project for ASH of 32 houses within the New England Region, and a soon to be commenced project of the refurbishment of 20 homes in Grafton.   


Suzanne Hitchen

Administration & IMC Manager

Suzanne has 30+ years’ experience in supporting C-Suite executives and Boards in both private and public company sectors, across a number of industries including, Construction, Manufacturing, Retail and Financial services in both Australia and the UK. 

Suzanne, along with her role as Administration and IMC Manager offers executive support to the Managing Director and the Project & Development Director.



Maree Tanner

Project Co-Ordinator

Maree brings highly regarded skills to the ASH team having experience in Property Development and Construction, Retail Management, Client Support, Community Engagement and Team Leadership.  From a large family and rural background in western Queensland, Maree has developed a strong character and highly valued ethics in both her personal and professional life. 


Maree is currently studying a Diploma in Project Management and works closely with ASH’s Project and Site Managers, overseeing budgets, regulative and compliance obligations, and general site administration requirements.

  • How do I become a contractor for ASH?

    ASH undertakes a rigorous interview & selection process. Please reach out to us directly via our website and we will guide you on the process from there.

  • Does ASH Subcontract to other construction companies?

    No, not at this stage however with future large scale housing development projects on the horizon in NSW this may change.

  • Are ASH homes environmentally friendly?

    Yes, ASH homes are both environmentally friendly & sustainable for the harsh climates we live in.

  • Do you have to be of aboriginal decent to work for ASH?

    No, you do not have to however it is our preference to open up opportunities for indigenous men and women of all ages.

  • Is ASH an aboriginal owned company?

    Yes, it is a majority indigenous-owned business.

  • Does ASH have a program to hire apprentices?

    Yes, we do and are currently accessing programs through the Master Builders Association.
